The Ocean Modeling Group is composed by a group or researchers from the Physics Department at the University of Aveiro and integrated in the Oceanography and Marine Geology research group from the Centre for Environment and Marine Studies (CESAM) Associated Laboratory.
Its members focus on regional Physical Oceanography with emphasis on numerical modeling and ocean observations. Geographically, this research has its center in the Atlantic Iberian Margin although sporadically extending to other regions (like Angola or Brazil). The scales under analysis span from the ocean basin to the estuarine systems.
Besides physical oceanographic problems, the group is also engaged in studying interdisciplinary topics in marine sciences, like Marine Biology (larval dispersal and connectivity, definition of marine protected areas, conservation, HABs, etc) or Biogeochemistry (oxygen, carbon and nutrient cycles, etc). These applications are used in the framework of diverse projects, both national and international.
